April 30, Thursday, noon -- Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef and guests, including representatives from University Hospitality Group, the city of Davis and local businesses, will take part in a ceremonial groundbreaking for the new UC Davis hotel currently under construction near the South Entry Quad. The 75-room hotel will provide lodging and amenities to the adjacent conference center. It is being developed as a public/private partnership between UC Davis and the University Hospitality Group and will operate as "Hyatt Place at UC Davis." The hotel is expected to open in January 2010.
