Peruvian Artist, Environmentalist Leads Workshop

* May 21, Wednesday -- Peruvian Amazon artist, teacher and spiritual healer Pablo Amaringo will lecture and lead a painting workshop on campus. The public is invited. Amaringo was elected in 1992 to the Global 500 Roll of Honor of the United Nations Environment Program in recognition of his work to protect and improve the environment. He is director of the Usko-Ayar Amazonian School of Painting in Pucallpa. Workshop hosted by UC Davis' John Muir Institute of the Environment and the Department of Anthropology. Lecture and discussion 1:30-3 p.m.; painting workshop 3-4 p.m. Both in 5 Lower Freeborn Hall.
